Shopping in Berlin

Stadteil Mitte

  • Friedrichstraße: A well-known luxury shopping street, leading to Checkpoint Charlie. Including the Gallerie Lafayette.

  • Hackischer Markt (near the station of the same name): Shopping area, slightly more down-to-earth.

  • Alexa shopping center (Alexanderplatz neighborhood): Most business open Mon-Sat 10am-9pm. Every now and then there is a shopping Sunday. There is also a lot more shopping near Alexanderplatz, including the Galeria Kaufhof.

  • Potsdamer Platz Arkaden: With approximately 130 shops, on a new square. Mon-Sat 10am-9pm, and occasionally a shopping Sunday (afternoon). Including the Sony Center nearby.

  • Mulackstraße and Alte Schönhauser Straße

Schöneberg

  • KaDeWe - Kaufhaus des Westens (at Wittembergplatz): Reportedly the largest department store in Europe. Mon-Thurs 10am-8pm, Fri 10am-9pm, Sat 9:30am-6pm.

  • Kurfürstendamm (from Wittembergplatz): Well-known luxury shopping street.

Gay Schöneberg

This is an area with many gay businesses, especially in and around Motzstraße between Nollendorplatz and Martin-Luther-Straße. Some gay things:

  • Prinz Eisenherz (Motzstraße 23): Books

  • Bruno's (Maaßenstrße 14): Books, DVDs, gifts, toys. Only closed on Sunday mornings.

  • Gallerie Janssen (Pariser Straße 45): Books, DVDs. Somewhat remote in the west of the district. Only closed on Sundays.

  • New World by Boyz-r-us (Maaßenstraße 8): A bit out of the direct neighborhood in a street leading to Nollendorfplatz. Clothing from a number of brands with a high gay content. Closed on Sunday and Mondays.

  • Wagner Berlin (Motzstraße 32): Sexy underwear. Closed on Sundays.

  • GEAR Berlin concept store (Kalkreuthstraße 13, in the same block as Mr. B.): Urban, sportswear, leather, rubber.

  • Butcherei Lindinger (Motzstraße 18): Custom made leather and rubber clothing. Closed on Sundays.

  • Mister B Berlin (Motzstrasse 22, in the same block as Gear Berlin.): Leather, rubber, bondage, toys.

  • Sling King (Eisenacher Straße 115, a side street of the Motzstraße a little further towards the Nollendorfplatz than the Kalkreuthstraße.): Leather, bondage, slings, toys.

  • Boxer Berlin (Eisenacher Straße 11): Fetish store.

  • RoB Berlin (Motzstaße 25): Leather, rubber, toys.

  • R&Co Berlin (Fuggerstraße 19. Fuggerstraße runs more or less parallel to Motzstraße, but more towards Tiergarten.): Leather, rubber, bondage, toys.

  • Connection SHOP (Fuggerstraße 33, combined with the Connection KINO & Club): A little further on. (Sex shop with cinema, but looks a bit less worthwhile.)

  • The Jaxx (Motzstraße 19): Sex shop, cinema and cabins. Open from 12 noon, on Sundays from 1 pm.

  • Leathers (Eisenacher Straße 101): Leather, also production of custom leather clothing. Open Wed-Sat.

  • Tysk Berlin (Prinzregentenstraße 9): Leather clothing made to measure, only open by appointment, though around fetish events there are some regular opening days also.

General kink in Schöneberg

  • McHurt (Tempelhofer Damm 141, near Tempelhof): Very kinky stuff, not specifically gay. Open daily 1pm-6pm except on Sundays.

  • RubAddiction: No longer a separate shop but now in GEAR Berlin.

Kreuzberg

  • Bergmannstraße met de Markthalle am Marheineplatz

  • Oranienstraße

Prenzlauer Berg

  • Schönhauser Allee: A bit away from the mainstream.

General kink and fetish in Prenzlauer Berg

  • Blackstyle (Seelower Strasse 5): Rubber fetish, not just gay. Although latex is the specialty of the house, they also have leather and, for example, bondage material. Open daily 1pm - 8pm except on Sundays.

  • CLOSED: Rubber-Factory-Berlin (Danziger Straße 33): Rubber fetish, not just gay.
