Information and staying in Bristol¶
Information¶

- LGBTQIA+ guide to Bristol on VisitBritain

- Gay Bristol on travelgay
- Gay Bristol on Queer in the World
Where to stay¶
- The University of Bristol offers summer accomodation but it looks like in 2024 this is only for larger groups.
Public transportation¶
-
Public transportation is tricky as there are many bus companies and not all tickets are valid on all.
-
One way to pay is with a card and then tap on and tap off. Fares are automatically limited to a day and week (Monday till Sunday) limit.
-
Freedom travelpass doesn't look that interesting.
-
FirstBuss bundle tickets look like an interesting option. A 5-in-10 would do for the 2024 trip and costs 28 GBP.
-
An AvonRider week is also an interesting option as it can be used with multiple operators. The AvonRider covers both the Bristol and Bath areas and costs 30 GBP for one week. One of the walks that I have planned for 2024 does use a different company so this ticket does make sense.
-
Useful apps¶
-
First bus for time tables and several kinds of tickets for the dominant bus company around Bristol and Bath.
-
GWR - Great Western Railways for the train between London and Bristol.
-
Banksy Trail app: A tour around the works of Banksy that are still visible.
