Variant of 16.7 km with a part of the River Avon Trail:
2024 visit: This variant wasn't worth it. Difficult decent to the Avon valley with unclear path towards the end, and the path back up was closed and will likely be so permanently. Some other paths had also largely disappeared and were hard to find.
-
-
A loop along the Avon and through city woods eastwards from Ibis Temple Meads (19km)
-
Countryside walk in the area between Bristol and Bath, with Kelston Round Hill etc.
-
Option 1: Saltford to Wick, 21.2km
-
Start point: Saltford bus top Tyning Road
-
Alternative start point for a shorter walk (17.9km): Kelston bus stop The Crown
-
End point: Wick bus stop The Carpenters Arm
-
Shorter version: Kelston to Wick GPX and reverse GPX
-
-
Option 2: Saltford to Cold Ashton (17.8km)
-
Same two start points as option 1.
-
End point: Cold Ashton bus stop The White Hart
-
Shorter version from Kelston to Cold Ashton (16.6km) GPX and reverse GPX
-
-
Option 3: The problem with both oprion 1 and 2 is that the bus service to Wick and Cold Ashton is very infrequent so you may have to rush in the morning to catch the bus, or wait long in the evening for bus. So instead one can opt to return to Bath instead.
