你考试得了多少分?

This 得了 really threw me off, until I dug around Pleco and discovered it's the third use and pronunciation of 得 / dé / to obtain or gain.

Hi, I am seeing 把 used often now like in this sentence.

把这两个小朋友分开。

The purpose of 把 is "preposition used to shift the object to before the verb". Is it really necessary to do this? How does this affect the meaning of the sentence?

I assume it is done to stress/highlight the object.

Thanks,
Andy
