父母要给孩子留一点儿空间
要 translates to 'should' for 'should give...'. Is this part of longer form content that provides context? Otherwise, how would you ensure this doesn't translate to 'will' - because I feel 'parents will give' vs 'parents should give' are very different ideas.

这里的空间好小。
I would've thought the 很 would be used instead of 好 to describe that 'very little'. Can you help me understand why 好 is used?

1. This could be affected by a larger context for sure, but the tone of the sentence (especially with the general term "Parents" as opposed to a specific person being used) definitely sound more like advice, don't you think?
2. 好 also means very (maybe slightly stronger, i.e. "really"). As this adjective (小) is not a "psychological verb" (想, 爱, etc.), 很 being used would be milder, closer to just "is". Using 好 is a way of saying "very/really" with adjectives that aren't psychological.

In the sentence: 孩子需要关心也需要空间。Why is the second 重要 needed? Shouldn’t it be assumed that if you say 也 then the thing that comes after it takes on the first trait? Leaving the sentence as: 孩子需要关心也空间。

Hey Nick,

Good question, here's an explanation of why the second sentence wouldn't quite work:

Makes a ton of sense now with the option of and or changing the verb if we wanted. Thanks
