Hi! in 有些人会担心父母长得胖的话,宝宝是不是比别的宝宝容易长胖
I thought that the construction 是不是 indicated a question. Is it serving some other function here?

1) 有另一些人,他们认为去银行寄钱取钱比用手机给钱安全一些

This sentence for 些 had '有另一些人'. Is this related to 有些 with the 另一 added in between? Is there a purpose for 另一 as the meaning was just 'there are some people...'

2) since 有些 is 'slightly', is this the same as 有点儿 but do a different degree?

Thanks!

Hi! in 有些人会担心父母长得胖的话,宝宝是不是比别的宝宝容易长胖 can you also say 父母很胖 instead of 父母长胖?Thanks, Andy

Mandarin Blueprint

The meaning is different and wouldn't work in this context as you can't say "easily fat". 长胖 means "to get fat" and 很胖 means "fat"

To me it functions like the (somewhat formal) usage. “They wonder whether the baby will be overweight if the parents are overweight”. “I am worried whether he misunderstood my text”. “If” works too, I think. “Not sure if I’m on the right lines here?
