Is there a verb omitted in 因为用手机比去银行方便得多, or is this a sentence structure we're going to see more of: 比 ? I guess both parts of my question can be true, so I'm mostly interested in whether a verb is left out as common usage and, if so, what verb? The sentence felt right so I didn't pick up on this until I went back to look in more detail.

No verb omitted here as far as I can see. It's just the standard 比 construction for comparing two things. If I've missed something in my answer here please elaborate further, thanks!
