If you are studying in Taiwan, you might think this component resembles the zhuyin "ㄗ" (the equivalent of the "zi" sound in pinyin). That can combine in your mind to be Zorro's Z with which he marks his presence (kind of like a seal).
The component can also look like the P for the Pittsburgh Pirates and so your actor can wear a Pirate's ball cap.
I might just use as a prop a friend of mine who is a a real Pirate's fanatic. She'd be great to include in my scenes.
