Functional Analysis Mode
(Original Document)
At a Glance
The functional analysis mode provides a detailed list of the developments of the process.
The Data Table
Each development is listed in a table in chronological order. Only the variables included in the selected module are listed. The scroll bar, on the right-hand side of the window, enables you to scroll through the table rapidly. The size of the scroll bar depends on the relative size of the data zone displayed in the window in comparison with the size of the whole recording.
For each development, the user can obtain the following information:
Comment
Comment on the variable that has changed status.
Start date
The date (day/month/year) on which the status change occurred.
End date
The date (day/month/year) on which the new status disappeared.
Duration
The duration of the development.
Start time
The time (hour:minutes:seconds, milliseconds) at which the new status appeared.
End time
The time (hour:minutes:seconds, milliseconds) at which the new status disappeared.
Mnemonic
The mnemonic of the variable that has changed status.
Value
The new value of the variable that has changed status.
Variable
The name of the variable that has changed status.
It may be difficult to calculate values based on two successive developments of the variable, simply because the next development has not occurred yet. In such a case, the value indicated by Trending Tool is replaced by a single hyphen. There are different ways to configure the data table. As specified in this section, you can add, change or delete columns in order to modify the Trending Tool default display. The table can be copied to other office IT applications. You can also change the display of the data lines.

There are three different types of Trending Tool variable: inputs, outputs and variables internal to the control system. With Trending Tool, you can allocate a color to each type of variable and therefore view the action sequences easily.
Proceed with the following steps to differentiate the lines in the data table:
Step
Action
1
Move the mouse pointer onto the table and right-click.
2
Select the Display... command from the context-sensitive menu. This command opens a dialog box defining the FA Diagram display parameters.
