很久以前，有三只小猪和猪爸爸猪妈妈生活在一起。慢慢地，他们长大了，是时候搬出去自己住了。每个人都要自己修房子自己住。猪大哥买了很多草，他想修一个草房，因为他觉得草房修起来最简单。两天以后，他的草房就修好了，猪大哥很高兴，热情地请两个弟弟和父母来看新房子。猪妈妈担心地说：“现在天气很好，住草房当然没问题，可是如果下雨，那怎么办呢？” 猪大哥说：“ 不要担心太多，等下雨了以后再说吧！” 大家回家了。猪二哥打算修木房子，然后他搬了很多木头回家。木房子比草房子难修一点，所以猪二哥用了五天时间才修好房子。当大家来看他的新家时，他说：“你们看，我修得又快又好！” 但是猪小弟说：“ 哥哥，我还是觉得木头房子不安全。” 猪二哥生气地说：“ 你懂什么？我的房子就是好！” 猪小弟没有再说话。第二天，他买了砖和水泥，他觉得自己不能心急，为了以后生活得舒服，现在就不能怕麻烦。他每天七点起床，工作到晚上八点。猪大哥和猪二哥每天一起玩儿，经过猪小弟的时候，他们不但不帮他，还笑他自找麻烦。可是猪小弟不听他们的话，还是认真地修房子。一个月过去了，猪小弟的房子修好了。大家来看房子，妈妈非常开心，觉得这个房子又宽又安全，冬天不会感到冷，夏天也不会感到热，是三个房子中最好的。但是猪小弟因为太累了，都瘦了很多，两个哥哥又笑他太笨了，不会做简单的事，还要去做难的事。

有一天，来了一只狼，它很饿，大叫说想吃猪肉。大家都跑回家关了门。可是狼轻轻一吹，猪大哥的草房就倒了。猪大哥跑去了猪二哥家，可是狼轻轻一推，猪二哥的木房也倒了。两个哥哥只能跑去弟弟家。他们进了家，还是吓得不轻。猪小弟对他们说：“ 两位哥哥别担心，我家的房子很安全，狼怎么都进不来。” 狼在外面用力地推房子，可是房子一点儿也不动。就这样，狼活活地被饿死了。
