To borrow 借 someone's mouth 口 to make an excuse 借口 as to why the book on jiè kǒu (Anton Chekhov) was shredded.

If you borrow 借 something from someone and you do not want to return it back, you always find 找 EXCUSES 借口 by opening your mouth and apologizing :)

A sentence that I like is:

我怎么可能找借口不跟你见面呢!
Why would I find an excuse not to meet with you?
