Carvoeiro

Carvoeiro is a former fishing village that preserved a lot of its charms through the many white villas and the conscious low-rise building. The village is built up around the small beach, where a lot of fishing boats are still being embanked. From the rocks you get a gorgeous view on the sunset until late at night.

You can find many small beaches in the neighbourhood of Carvoeiro, hidden between the rocks. Most of them are easy to reach by car and often there are stairs cut out in the rocks that lead to the beach (Marinha, Benagil, Carvalho,…)

There are plenty sport possibilities. Within a few kilometers you find 3 golfcourses (Pinta, Gramacho and Vale do Milho). In addition to that, there are several tennis clubs and you can also ride horse. The new yacht-basin of Portimao, where you can practice water sports, is only a few minutes driving.

The rocky coast in Eastern Carvoeiro offers unique walking tours with beautiful views on the fantastic rock formations and the grand sea towards Morocco.

Visiting Carvoeiro entails enjoying the local specialities or home cooking in one of the many restaurants along the village’s main streets. And if you don’t mind driving a little, you can also find culinary surprises amongst the many white villas. Thanks to many foreign residents in the neighbourhood there is an extensive choice and the quality is good.
