How to Keep Your Microwave Clean and Fresh

Maintaining a clean and fresh microwave can be a challenge, especially if you’ve never done it before. But with the right tools and techniques, you can make your microwave look as good as new in no time. Here are some tips on how to keep your microwave clean.

Step 1: Remove All Food Residue

The first step in cleaning your microwave is to remove all food particles and grease from the inside. Start by taking out the turntable, if your microwave has one, and scrubbing it with hot soapy water. Then use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe down the walls and ceiling of the microwave, making sure to get into all of the nooks and crannies.

Step 2: Create a Vinegar Solution

Once you’ve removed all of the food particles and grease, it’s time to create a vinegar solution for cleaning. Fill a bowl with one part white vinegar and one part water then place it inside the microwave. Turn on high for five minutes so that steam from the vinegar solution can loosen any remaining food particles or grease.

Step 3: Wipe Down Interior Surfaces

After five minutes have passed, turn off the microwave then carefully remove the bowl of vinegar solution. Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe down all interior surfaces of your appliance, removing any remaining food particles or grease. Be sure to rinse off your cloth or sponge after each wipe.

Step 4: Clean Exterior Surfaces

Once the interior surfaces of your microwave are clean, you can move on to the exterior. Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe down the outside of the microwave, making sure to get into all of the crevices. You can also use a mild all-purpose cleaner to help remove any stubborn stains.
