Managing Large Files
Trending Tool recordings must be managed in such a way that you can obtain a recording time suited to statistical calculations without overloading the computer. The software does not limit the size of the processed documents. A recording may contain a large number of variables that can be monitored for more than 30 days. The size of the recording depends directly on these two criteria as well as on the rate of the monitored equipment.
However, it is not easy to estimate the size at which a file becomes to large to be processed correctly by Trending Tool. The performance of the computer plays an important part. Tests carried out by Schneider Electric show that, for a recording size of 20 MB, the average processing time for a user interface operation is between 15 and 20 seconds on a Pentium II computer running at 300 MHz with 64 MB of RAM.
