Whose crying? Oh right... that's me. I am literally crying buckets right now, because I am such a baby. I can not, and I mean this, can not believe that I just learned the last character in this course. I honestly didn't think I would get here. When I first started trying to learn Chinese, I tried so many free trials on so many different learning platforms, trying to find the right fit, and I just kept thinking, I am too stupid to learn Chinese, but this is my dream, and I don't ever give up, so I kept trying and searching. This was so overwhelming for me, it seemed so impossible, but here I am. Almost 1600 characters learned, 98% retention rate. This is solely because of Mandarin Blueprint, I mean this with my entire heart. I wouldn't have gotten here if it wasn't for you guys.

For context I started the PM course on 3.7.21
Foundation 3.30.21
Finished Foundation 7.27.21
Had a two month break from the course to just focus on practicing for the HSK 3 exam
9.25.21- took and passed the HSK3 exam
9.27,21- started intermediate course
12.3.21- completed intermediate (technically, I am still working on all my sentence cards)

So a eight month span, 6 months actively in the course. This is just so so surreal, like it feels like a dream. That I just started all of this yesterday. This time last year I knew ZERO Chinese, nothing. How did I get here??

In the beginning I had written to you guys about when I should start reading and listening to books when I didn't understand 98% of the words. I wanted to buy the Secret Garden in Mandarin since it was a childhood favorite of mine. But I didn't know if I should try when I didn't understand. You guys answered me about it and when is a good time to read and about comprehension input. Well *update* I also just finished reading the Secret Garden in Mandarin, in its entirety, and I knew everything, save maybe 10 characters in the whole book.

Do you know what that means to me as an adult, and me as a kid? Just so many feelings right now. I can not wait to give you all my money for the advance course, LOL, I am saving because I don't care what it costs, I am throwing you my money. Please let me know when you plan on rolling it out. Thank you so much, I am so thankful and appreciate MB and the MB community. Words, in any language, fail to express how I am feeling right now. Thank you again.

Aw, you made me tear up too, Lynn! 你真是太棒了!And not to worry, we're planning on releasing the upper-intermediate and advanced course this month (maybe even this week, but don't quote me on that).

What an inspiring story! In many ways, this is just the beginning, but WHAT a beginning it has been.

Hi Lynn (Luke here). Just wanted to extend my congratulations as well. Well done for achieving this. But Phil is right, this is only the beginning!

I'm curious as we are starving for this kind of data: How many hours per day on average were you actively studying with our materials? That includes watching videos, making movies, making/reviewing flashcards, etc.

Also, did you consume everything in a completionist style or were there some parts of the course you skipped such as sentences/long-form content?

Final character, made it! Kinda hard to believe really – now I’m going back to boost the vocab and immerse myself in the stories. Thanks Phil and Luke, you’re right – turn up every day, change it up if you’re not enjoying it, don’t let the short game get in the way of the long game, and stop writing down those scenes!

Good timing, too, Christopher. The Upper-Intermediate Course is coming very soon ;-). What an incredible achievement, and sage advice to those on the journey.
