现在越来越多的人都不相信广告，为什么呢？因为广告里说的和它们卖的东西不一样。比如，广告里的牛肉面，牛肉特别大一块，但是外卖送来后，牛肉小，但面很多。以前，广告很重要，因为大家可以看广告来知道自己想买什么。广告让卖东西的人和买东西的人很容易联系上对方。而且以前的广告不会骗人，但现在的广告为了吸引人，会先把自己的东西说得非常完美。大家把东西买回家以后，发现自己被骗了，会特别生气，下次就再也不会买这个东西了。
而有的公司，他们可能不会花钱打广告，但他们的东西卖得很好。他们有很多回头客。（回头客：买了一次以后觉得好，然后会再买的人）为什么他们会有“回头客”呢？因为他们的广告是买过用过的人帮他们做的，不仅不要钱，效果还特别好！
所以，每一个公司都应该诚实，然后用心把自己卖的东西做好，这样回头客才能多起来。

这样回头客才能多起来。
I'm struggling to understand how 这样 and 起来 work in this last sentence. If the meaning was "returning customers like this" I would expect the sentence to be 这样的回头客, so is the 这样 simply serving as a transition here? As in "In this way, returning customers ..." Or I'm also thinking it could be part of a larger grammatical phrase "这样才能“ meaning "only in this way can ..."
If the meaning is returning customers become more, then I think the 起来 is following the verb+起来 construction. So would that mean 多 is functioning as a verb in this sentence? I usually think of it as an adjective.
Probably overthinking all of this ...

Very helpful, thanks! One other question about 它们 versus 他们. I didn't think about until I tried to 听写 and had trouble selecting the right "ta". So is the first 它们 referring to advertisements, while later in the passage, 他们 refers to 公司? Because a company is made up of people, it uses the pronoun 他, or could it also be referred to as 它?

I know that 他们 is definitely fine, but I'm not as certain about whether or not referring to multiple 公司 as 它们 is correct. I can't say I've ever seen it, so I'd stick with 他们 because, as you say, it's referring to something made up of people.
