Location: My Old Trailer (Backyard)
Actor: Jackie Chan
Props: Talons, Crown, Best friend Aaron
My wife and I are hanging out with my best friend Aaron and his wife Haley in the backyard of my old trailer. Jackie Chan is there as he has been tutoring me in Chinese. It is Aaron and Haley's anniversary and Jackie has prepared something special. As we are all sitting there, Jackie has two trained birds of prey with crowns in their talons fly in and lower a crown down on each of their heads as they are crowned king and queen for their special day. In each of the crowns, the word LOVE is bedazzled with multi-color rhinestones. Once Jackie's ceremony is complete, they dance the night away wearing their crowns.

Jacky Chan and my best friend from childhood, Cheryl, are in the backyard of my "ai" location. They are in LOVE, and are just about to be married. Cheryl is coming down the aisle in a beautiful white dress and a lovely crown on her head, with an attached veil. Suddenly, an eagle swoops down and snatches the crown off of Cheryl's head with her talons, along with the veil. Cheryl almost falls over in shock, and Jacky rushes up to assist her. She then begins to cry. She points up at the disappearing eagle and cries, "I LOVED that crown!"

Referring to Luke's comment about making an app in the podcast, here's a look at an app that I've built that lets you easily move between simplified and Traditional characters:
https://learntounderstand.neilkeleher.com/chinsym
I allows you to lookup traditional or simplified Chinese characters by shape. (and you can choose whether you lookup a character via it's first, second or final element). The cool thing is that it allows you to see characters with the same shape elements grouped together. So basically, if you've learned a particular prop, you can see which other characters use that same prop.

I have to rant a little bit about this!
How is it possible that they simplified LOVE by taking the HEART out of it?! 愛 -> 爱
The lower part is different too but the heart part is utterly incomprehensible. The original is also so beautiful and balanced, but the simplified one is just so... Bland!

I absolutely love this course. The imagery is very creative. Everytime I see a character on a sign, I instantly recognise what prop I've learned, even if I don't know the character, yet. Keep up the great work guys. I'm loving my memory!

Do we have to keep using Jackie Chan as the null character when it's a different Pinyin, in this case starting out with the letter a? I find it easier to use a friend's name, Anne, who I don't use anywhere else. What are your thoughts on this MB?
