I've run into this before, but I've also run into 例如 a lot, too. Is there any difference in usage between the two, or are they interchangeable?
Mandarin Blueprint
例如 is more often used in written language, whereas 比如 is much more spoken. People frequently say 比如说, which can be a way for you to distinguish it as the spoken version.

That makes sense. I think the place I saw 例如 most often (and earliest) was in the HSK textbooks and exams. Not in the passages, but in the instructions. Thanks!

"For example, the BEE ROUTE..."
The Top Down learning is really something. "比如" popped into my mind in the last lesson when we learned 比, and here it is. It's been in our previous sentences so I already have context for it. Great!

Trying to keep some characters and props straight.
勺 - spoon MB Character # 62
匕 - ancient spoon MB Character # 282
Would this be correct?
比如, 比一个匕子,我更喜欢新勺子。
Bǐrú, bǐ yīgè bǐ zi, wǒ gèng xǐhuān xīn sháo zi.
For example, compared to an ancient spoon, I prefer a new spoon.
