Update Operation and Associated Connections
Main operations performed to update a 140CRA31200, BME CRA 312 10, or BMXCRA312•0 firmware:
Operation
|
Communication protocol
|
Connect the PC to one of the module Ethernet ports.
|
FTP (Ethernet)
|
Update the module firmware.
|
Module Default IP Address
If the adapter module is not configured in the Unity Pro application, it takes the IP address built from its MAC address:10.10.xxx.yyy where xxx and yyy are the last two values of the module MAC address.
For example, if the MAC address is: 00.80.F4.09.01.66 in hexadecimal, the corresponding default IP address is: 10.10.1.102 in decimal.
Setting the Default IP Address
To assign the default IP address to the adapter module for download, use the rotary switches in front of the module as follows:
-
Power off the module and disconnect all cables connected to the module.
-
Select Clear IP position on the rotary switch in front of the module.
-
Power on the module, without any cable connected to it.
Result: The Mod Status (or MS) led is flashing green.
-
Select Stored position on the rotary switch in front of the module.
-
Power off the module.
-
Power on the module, without any cable connected to it.
Result: The Net Status (or NS) and Mod Status (or MS) leds are flashing green.
-
The module has now its default IP address based on its MAC address.
-
The module can now be connected to the PC with an RJ45 Ethernet cable for update.
Change the IP address of your PC to get it into the same subnetwork as the adapter module.
The first three groups of digits have to be the same. For example, the adapter module address is 10.10.133.13 and the PC address needs to be 10.10.133.xx.
Connect the PC to one of the following Ethernet ports of the module:
-
SERVICE port (140 CRA 312 00, BME CRA 312 10, BMX CRA 312 10).
-
DEVICE NETWORK port (BMX CRA 312 00).
Verify that communications are established between the PC and the adapter by issuing a Ping command from the PC:
