Juxtaposing the Reference Cycle and the Trend Diagram
(Original Document)
At a Glance
You can use reference cycles to compare developments recorded at a given moment with previously saved developments. In Trending Tool, you can superimpose the reference cycle and the recording to spot differences between them. The reference cycle juxtaposition functions only work for reference cycles with a starting event. The Reference cycle tool bar contain these functions.
Moving the Reference Cycle
You can use the mouse to move the reference cycle in the recording. Proceed as follows:
Step
Action
1
Move the mouse pointer onto one of the developments of the reference cycle and hold your finger down on the left mouse button.
2
Keep the button pressed down until you reach the required location for the reference cycle. Trending Tool automatically shifts the recording when you approach a border of the window.
3
Release the left button. The reference cycle is now placed as required.
In Trending Tool, there is also a specific function that enables you to move the reference cycle directly to any place in the recording:

Switching Between the Cycles of a Recording
If the reference cycle has a triggering condition, it can be automatically juxtaposed with all the cycles of a recording using the Previous reference cycle and Next reference cycle commands from the Recording menu. These commands shift the position of the reference cycle forward and backward a cycle respectively on the trend diagram. The display of the trend diagram is also adjusted accordingly.
These two actions can be performed via the Previous and Next buttons on the Reference cycle tool bar.
Comparing the Durations of Events
The reference development display is one of the properties of each reference cycle. You can display these durations by following the procedure described in the paragraph entitled Changing a reference cycle.
