Introduction
Use the Control Expert to the M580 CPU.
window to send an explicit message fromAn explicit message can be connected or unconnected:
connected: A connected explicit message contains both path information and a connection identifier to the target device.
unconnected: An unconnected message requires path (addressing) information that identifies the destination device (and, optionally, device attributes).
You can use explicit messaging to perform many different services. Not every EtherNet/IP device supports every service.
Accessing the Page
Before you can perform explicit messaging, connect the DTM for the M580 CPU to the CPU itself:
Step |
Action |
---|---|
1 |
Open the Control Expert ( ). in |
2 |
Select the M580 DTM in the . |
3 |
Right-click the M580 DTM. |
4 |
Scroll to the EtherNet/IP explicit messaging page ( ). |
Configuring Settings
Configure the explicit message using these settings on the
page:Field |
Setting |
---|---|
Address |
The IP address of the target device that is used to identify the target of the explicit message. |
The integer (1 ... 65535) is the identifier of the target device that is used in the construction of the message path. |
|
The integer (0 ... 65535) is the class instance of the target device that is used in the construction of the message path. |
|
Check this box to enable the integer (0 ... 65535), which is the specific device property that is the target of the explicit message that is used in the construction of the message path. |
|
Service |
The is the integer (1 ... 127) associated with the service to be performed by the explicit message. NOTE: If you
select as the named service, type in a service number. This field is read-only
for all other services.
|
Select the service that the explicit message is intended to perform. |
|
Check this box to enable the message path field, where you can manually enter the entire path to the target device. |
|
Data(hex) |
This value represents the data to be sent to the target device for services that send data. |
Messaging |
Select this radial button to make the connection. |
Select this radial button to end the connection. |
|
Response(hex) |
The area contains the data sent to the configuration tool by the target device in hexadecimal format. |
Status |
The area displays messages that indicate whether or not the explicit message has succeeded. |
