From the Project Browser, expand (+) the Configuration directory.

Depending on your hardware architecture, double-click:

Right-click the open slot in the rack and click New Device....
Result: The New Device window is displayed.
Expand (+) Communication to select the BMECXM module and click OK.
NOTE: You can also click Tools → Hardware Catalog → Modicon M580 local drop → Communication and drag the BMECXM module to an open slot in the rack. |

In the popup window, select the appropriate combination of I/O-scanner, Protocol, and Profile and click OK.
Result: The Properties of device window is displayed.
NOTE: All the tabs contain read-only information except the General tab. |

In the General tab, you can change the name(1) of the module in the Name field. In that case, the fields in the Default I/O vision management box are automatically modified to match the new name.
By default, the prefix of the name corresponds to the topological address of the module in the configuration. For a BMECXM module on bus EIO, on drop 3, on rack 1, and slot 4, the default name will be EIO2_d3_r1_s4_ECXM0100.
NOTE: The default naming rule in Control Expert helps prevent modules of the same type getting mixed up. |

Click OK.
Result: The new device is added.

Save the project by clicking File → Save.
