NANDO PRO

Fernando L. Otero Van-Caneghem alias (NANDO PRO) is a Musician, Arranger, Producer, Dj and Composer graduated from elementary piano level in his home province of Matanzas, Cuba. Among his greatest achievements he has been nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards and 3x Multi-platinum. In the beginning he made an important contribution to Cuban reggaeton. He created a different sound that gave way to a movement merging reggaeton with other genres and Cuban roots. This is how he became one of the pioneers of the then nascent national reggaeton, which quickly managed to displace foreign reggaeton, monopolizing the preference of an audience inside and outside the country. His work of more than 20 years has been fundamental in the triumph of practically an endless list of various Cuban urban music projects such as Eddy K, Los Cuatro, El Chacal, Osmani GarcĂ­a, El Micha, Clan 537, Los Desiguales, Patry White, El Yonki, Gente de Zona among others...

In this period (2003-2012) he has made music for many or almost all the important Cuban performers and groups, not only from the urban genre and also for several foreigners, such as the American Pitbull, the Mexican Fany Lú and the Dominican El Cata, among others. . As part of Gente de Zona he has toured many countries and shared the stage with many international figures. He has appeared in two Cubadisco Award-winning albums such as “Cabiosile” (2006 award in the rap and reggaeton category) by Papo Record, and “Lo mejor que suena ahora” (2009 award in reggaeton) by Gente de Zona. Several video clips of this group that he integrates have won awards at the Lucas Awards, including the award for the most popular video in 2007 for “Tremenda Pena”. Nando Pro was selected in 2010 by the prestigious Redbull Music Academy to participate in London in its annual course, which is convened by a select group of DJs from around the world who stand out for their original musical work. He is considered the initiator of Cuban reggaeton. Nando Pro is currently part of a movement of music producers from various countries that are making Caribbean rhythms evolve.

With Gente De Zona

In 2005, together with Jacob Forever, he became part of Gente De Zona with its founder Alexander Delgado. With Gente de Zona he was part of the album The best that sounds now vol II, with songs like “Le gusta los Artistas” and “El Animal”, which came to top the popularity charts not only in Cuba but also in places like Miami and Europe where they were recognized as standard bearers of Antillean reggaeton.
In 2006 came the great hits of "Soné" and "La Campaña", two super hits, in Cuba and in general for all fans of Cuban music. In 2007 they played as a guest star on David Calzado's CD and his Charanga Habanera, “El cañón”. They win a "Lucas Awards", and the mega hits "He likes artists" and "Pa´ la calle" follow. In the summer of 2008 his first worldwide exclusive CD came out with Planet Records, “The best that sounds now”. The music video for the super hit "Yo te Enseñe", by director Santana, is a candidate for the Lucas Awards.
After the string of successes, in 2010 "Full" was released on the music market. It consists of 16 songs and was made in collaboration with many artists: Orishas, ​​Dr López, Sr Rodríguez, Los Generales, El Micha, Máxima Alert, etc. In the summer of 2011 and January 2012 the band made two other important tours, playing in almost forty cities with great artistic, critical and public success. In the summer of 2012 they made another important tour of Europe.

After

In March 2013, Gente de Zona announced the separation of Nando Pro and Jacob Forever. Alexander Delgado continues with the name of Gente de Zona along with Randy, former singer of Charanga Habanera and Jacob Forever continued his solo career with Nando Pro and El Dany, former member of the group (DpuntoD). By the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, Jacob Forever (this time alone) reached national and international success with his mega hit “Hasta que seque el malecón”and then the remix with Farruko. In 2016 “Hasta que seque el malecón” became a worldwide success and was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards in the category “Best Fusion / Urban Performance”. This theme climbed to #5 on Billboard Magazine's Latin Airplay chart and remained on this list for 27 weeks, in addition to being certified 3x Multi-platinum by the RIAA. By then, Nando decided to continue his career as an independent producer after receiving job offers with many international artists belonging to record companies such as (SONY and UNIVERSAL). Also in 2016, he signed with the prestigious publishing house Kobalt Music institution where they belong and have belonged to the catalog of many great artists such as (Paul McCartney, Annuel, Karol G, Marshmello, Max Martin, Ozuna, Nati Natasha, The Weeknd, Diplo, etc) link
Through these mentioned institutions he was in several collaborations, remixes and in different sessions for artists such as (Sofia Carson, JBalvin, Pitbull, JLO, Shakira, Belinda, Alejandro Sanz, Marc Anthony, David Bisbal, Juanes, Farruko, Jencarlos among others). Currently he belongs to the (Sony Secret Sessions) which is no more the union of several composers and producers that Sony summons on many occasions to make songs that their artists can take for their next productions.

Present

To this day, he continues in his daily work of making music with the aforementioned institutions and also with (La Companioni), a corporation that together with Bladimir Companioni (founder of this corporation) share an excellent musical studio where they receive many artists and groups to make their latest record productions. There he has also continued his work with Cuban artists already mentioned before being part of his most recent successes.

Nando Pro (Nando) as everyone calls him is and will continue to be a tireless artist with the greatest desire to work until his last days because as he says: "Music is my life."
