Process Control in Automated Systems
(Original Document)
General Introduction
A process control application may be programmed using either:
Presentation of Function Block Libraries
There are three process control function block libraries:
The CLC, CLC_PRO and CLC_INT libraries are deemed to be ‘obsolete’. When importing an application, they enable you to retrieve process control functions programmed in PL7 from the CLC_INT library and those programmed using Concept from the CLC and CLC_PRO libraries, without errors.
It is therefore preferable to use the CONT_CTL library for a new project incorporating process control. This is the standard for all processor types (Premium, Atrium and Quantum).
Presentation of Control Loops
The processors with process control functionality use an application-specific channel called the Loop channel. On this application-specific channel, loop controllers are available and are represented schematically by algorithms which correspond to the type of process control necessary for the supervision of industrial processes.
These loop controllers can be of the following types:
Control loop parameters are set during processor configuration via the application screens.
